Sowing Seed School staff is certified in Early Childhood Development and must attend ongoing professional development training to stay current on educational trends, early childhood theory, and best practices.
Background checks are required for all staff employed by Sowing Seed School. CARI- Child Abuse Record Investigation and CHRI- Criminal History Record Investigation –fingerprints.
Managing Director – Mrs. Marilyn Duran
Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision, as well as certifications in Early Childhood, Elementary Education K-8, Teaching English As A Second Language, and Bilingual/Bicultural Education. She has been married for 36 years to her life and business partner, and together, they have three children, one of whom just graduated from the University of Delaware and two attending the University of Minnesota.
One reason I love what I do:
Children have always been my passion. I have been married for 36 years to my husband and business partner Alexander Duran, and blessed with three amazing children. The youngest of the three children, Gabriella Duran, is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in the field of occupational therapy. I have enjoyed a 35+ year career of working with children and families as a teacher, School Principal, and Director of Educational Programs in both the public and private sector.

My favorite way to spend the weekend:
I love to study the bible and go to church with my family. I also love gardening in my backyard.

One reason I love what I do:
The first five years of a child’s life are the most critical developmental years, which determine who they will become later in life. I find it to be my passion to help them grow into the amazing people they will become.
My biggest inspiration and teachers are my wife of 36 years and partner, Managing Director, Mrs. Marilyn Duran, and our three children. Having a front-row seat to Mrs. Marilyn Duran’s career has taught me first-hand all about children and their development.

My favorite way to spend the weekend is with my family. We go to church, study the bible, and enjoy each other’s company.

Business Administration and Hospitality Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
